3 Reasons Your Floors Don't Look Clean

I’ve been noticing more and more questions regarding floors. After calculating very scientific algorithms and chemistry experiments (he said jokingly), I started doing some hands-on testing of my own floors and cracked the case.

There are a few scenarios.

1. The floors were cleaned on hands and knees.

In this case, 9 times out of 10, there will never really be an issue. However, even in this case, it’s not uncommon for a small amount of debris, a crumb or something else to either be left or possibly “fall” from either the air (ventilation is different in each home) or from a surface (gravity, am I right?). It doesn’t mean we didn’t clean the floor. It means that natural settling and fluidity in a home impacts the impression of the clean, but doesn’t impact the fact we actually did clean. Food for thought, right?

2. The floors were cleaned with a “mop.”

We use the quotes because our method involves a Swiffer tool and microfibers. Very safe for floors, and we intentionally use so we’re not in your hair all day. In this case, if any slight grey / dust / etc. is wiped up, it doesn’t mean the floor wasn’t cleaned. What it means is…we can remedy. So, first, let us know. Second, we can put in your notes that scrubbing / hands and knees might be the easiest way to address. Honestly, for very large homes with large spaces, it’s tough to do a hands and knees procedure 100% of the time. So, we like to say, sometimes it didn’t take one day to get there, it might take more than one cleaning to address.

3. The floors weren’t cleaned.

Well, this is rarely the case. However, we’ll be the first to take responsibility (remember when Tobey Maguire was told in Spiderman, “with great power comes great responsibility”?). This should absolutely not be a habit or trend, but if for some reason this happens, we want to come out and fix ASAP. This is not the Sparkly standard and not how we train and we are always willing to do everything in our power to make it right (cue Spiderman again).

Not all surfaces are created equal and not everyone has the same cleaning frequency. So, we look at it as an opportunity for open and honest communication. If we can work together with what your concerns are (before, during or after a cleaning), we can come together to help make you happy and create a little extra space in your life. Because, ultimately, that’s our objective each time we get the privilege of entering your home :).
